Wall Decals/Wall Papers - The Trend

Hi

Have you come across a home or office or any commercial space recently with wall decals/papers??
If you have not, these decals/papers have come into the market in several different shades, textures, colours and designs. Even accessible at your locals malls and stores, you can got take a look of how they actually look like.
The above picture is the floral wall decal

The birdies on wall - another wall decal which would enhance the look for your rooms.
The wall decals which would give a retro look for a commercial space.

The wall papers can be purchased on sq feet basis and sometimes readily available; and sometimes to be given as customized order.  As many people think, these wall papers are not very expensive. In fact
they are best ways to enhance your spaces without much trouble and effort. It all depends on choosing the right one for your space.

Here we are featuring some sneak peaks of the wall decals/papers that we got to find.

We personally liked the floral type as they are the fast moving for homes.

The above room is one which we really liked with that big bold flowers and the faint calligraphy.

TUESDAY TOUR

Hi

Everyday Tuesday, we would like to feature a design that inspired us or introduce an architect/designer through our page. We will pen down our opinion/analysis on the design.
This Tuesday, we are beginning with Architect Arvind Dsouza's Design for a Goa Residence.
The pool view of the residence. To us its gives a glimpse of Malabar appeal rather than a Goan look

The Verandah which is very typical ethnic India style with lot of space and ventilation.
The Living space with the eco-friendly furniture and the blend of colours of the materials and art works seems to be perfectly in sync.
The favourite space - we think this is one of the best designed simple yet beautiful spaces in the entire residence.
While we appreciate the entire design, we find the flaw here, as we don't the staircase space was well utilized. Especially the wood partition looks out of place.
The Bedrooms were worked out very well with the choice of simple elements.
The minimalistic approach for the bedrooms make them look more ventilating.
Overlooking the garden & pool from the bedroom is very relaxing and refreshing for a tired soul.

This is one of the kind residence which is very close to that of a perfect India ethnic home where there is ample of ventilation, relaxing space and eco-friendliness.

Mr.Dsouza definitely did a great job.

Hope you enjoyed this Tuesday's Tour.

Cheers

Incepting Inspiration

Hi

We have taken up a project to design the civil, structural and interiors for a 2 storey residential building here in Bangalore. The project has shaped up well, almost done with its exteriors...the clients wants us to work on the interiors of this building. So, we are gearing up for some exciting work for the next few weeks. The tough part of this project - interiors, will be the budget as the client wants us to work in a very slim budget for which a duplex house interiors would generally not work out. That is quite a big challenge we have in front. Apart from budget, the project is located in a congested locality, so lighting will be a serious concern.
And for the inspiration, we have gone around our favourite blogger's pages and short listed few. Sharing few images here.
Considering this type of cladding for a separation wall, also the shelves seem to be functional.
Considering this type of simple set up for the kitchen cabinets. Love the lighting factor though!
The colour indigo and white combo is what we want to prefer to give a modern look.
Definitely one of this colour would be there, the trend!!!
We are yet to sit with our client to discuss the detailing but hoping they would love our choices as they loved the frame design.

Are you looking for some design help???
Please write your queries to seekanidea@gmail.com. We will revert you as soon as possible.

Recycle or Upcycle???

We are not just endorsing sustainability, but trying to put in practise in daily walks of life. When it comes to conservation, we are used three Rs, Reduce, Reuse, n Recycle. But, the scenario is slowly changing. Recycling is not so easy as we write in 7 letters. Recycling involves a series of operations which may consume energy, water and fuel. The amount that we recycle involves a little less of those resources used for manufacturing. So, a term called..."Upcycle" has been coined defining the process of adding more value to the old products. This is not something that started today or yesterday but nearly 2 decades ago. Has it reached to larger section...sadly not yet.
This is just another attempt to promote upcycling. Having realised the fun in upcycling things, we write this to share an upcycle project of ours. As one of us works for a construction company, we have access to the site's construction debris. Not to forget, debris disposal is not upto its mark in India. So we have collected few logs and unwanted ply sheets from the debris and took up this project. The name of this product we tried to design is "Step-Up Shelf". Initial phase of work for this product has been completed just yesterday. The next phase will be finishing & painting.
Heres sharing the work in progress pictures....

The 1st image is the closer version of the design which can be used as shelf, 2nd images is the side view clearly shows a ladder type, that is why it is inclined. The back rest would actually act as a ladder. U can see the print on the those ply sheets which have to be scrubbed off and a coat of primer to be applied before setting off for painting.
This is just a beginning from our end. Of course we have lot of Re-Used stuff, but upcyclying is the first time.
Check out this page which keeps inspiring and provides information about upcycling, and another page in pinterest especially for the curious ladies out there.
Will post the next phase of work pictures as soon as we are with it.
